Privacy Policy

stocks-llm is a research and discovery tool for US public companies. You can use all of it without an account and without giving any personal information. An optional account exists, and this policy is explicit about the one thing it changes. It explains, plainly and accurately, what the website and the mobile app collect, why, and how it is handled.

Chat questions

When you ask a question, your question text is processed to generate an answer and is forwarded to our AI provider for that processing with no identity attached — no name, account, or profile ever goes to the provider.

To prevent abuse and debug quality issues, questions are also retained in an internal, server-side-only operations log. This applies to every answered question, whether or not you are signed in. Each entry keeps a short excerpt of the question (its first 200 characters), a hashed client key — never a raw IP address — the User-Agent your browser or app sends with every web request, and technical details of how the answer was produced (which model answered, which searches it ran). A request that fails is recorded the same way in a separate error log. Both logs are size-capped and rotate — older entries are deleted automatically as new ones arrive, so neither grows without bound. They are not shown to visitors and are used solely for operating the service.

If you are signed in, your questions and the answers are additionally saved to your account so you can reopen them later, and are deleted after 90 days — see "Optional accounts" below. Being signed out changes only that: nothing is saved to an account, but the operations log described above still applies.

IP addresses and rate limiting

Your IP address is used transiently, in memory, to enforce rate limits (so one client cannot overwhelm the service). It is not stored in a database for this purpose. Wherever a request is recorded at all — the operations and error logs described above, the feedback form below, and share-link activity — your IP is one-way hashed before it is written. A raw IP address is never stored anywhere on the site.

Feedback form

If you choose to send feedback ("Built by Soner. Got feedback?"), the message, the category you pick, and the page you sent it from are stored so the site owner can read and act on it. Your IP address is one-way hashed (SHA-256 with a secret salt) before it is ever written, so the raw IP is never kept. An email address is stored only if you voluntarily enter one; it is optional and used only to reply to your feedback.

Website analytics

The website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic and page views (which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from). This is standard web analytics and does not identify you personally to us. Google may set analytics cookies in your browser; you can block or clear them in your browser settings. The website carries no advertising.

Optional accounts

An account is entirely optional. Every part of the site — search, chat, company pages, screens — works fully signed out, and nothing on this page changes for you if you never create one.

If you do create one, we store your email address and a one-way cryptographic hash of your password (scrypt). Your actual password is never stored and cannot be recovered from the hash — not by us either. We also store when the account was created and when it was last used, and your browser holds a signed session cookie that keeps you signed in. No name, address, phone number or payment detail is asked for or held. There is no charge and no billing information.

Chat history. While you are signed in, the questions you ask and the answers you receive are saved to your account, so you can reopen a past conversation. They are automatically deleted after 90 days. What is saved is the text of the exchange — nothing else about the session. Signed out, nothing is saved.

Deleting your data. You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from your account page. It removes your account, your portfolios and your saved chats immediately and permanently. If you would rather ask us, use instead.

We do not sell or share this data, and we do not use your email to market to you. There is no email newsletter. Companies you save while signed out are kept only in your own browser's local storage — they stay on your device, are never uploaded to our servers, and do not sync across devices or browsers. Clearing your browser storage removes them. Signed in, your portfolios are stored in your account instead, and are deleted with it.

Mobile app

The stocks-llm mobile app contains no analytics SDK, no advertising, and no accounts. The companies you save in it are stored only on your device and are never uploaded. The app reads the same public data the website serves (company profiles, prices, search) over the public endpoints; it collects no personal information and asks for no sign-in.

AI processing

Answers are generated with the help of a third-party AI model provider. Your question text is forwarded to that provider to produce the answer, with no identity attached — no name, email, account or profile is ever sent, whether or not you are signed in. The provider is not given your chat history and does not receive anything that identifies you. We do not sell or share your data with advertisers.

Data retention and your choices

  • Internal error logs are size-capped and rotated, and contain no raw IP addresses.
  • Feedback you submit is retained so it can be read and acted on; the stored IP is a one-way hash.
  • Companies you save while signed out live in your browser — clear your browser's local storage to remove them.
  • Chat history saved to an account is deleted automatically after 90 days. Signed out, no chat history is stored at all.
  • To ask a question about your data, request removal of feedback you sent, or have your account and its chat history deleted, .

Children

stocks-llm is a general-audience informational tool and is not directed to children, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the effective date above will be updated. Because the URL of this page is permanent, the latest version is always available here at https://stocks-llm.com/privacy.
