Battery packs for energy storage averaged $70 per kWh worldwide in 2025, BloombergNEF says, but home battery quotes on EnergySage in the first half of 2026 averaged $15,647 for 13.5 kWh before incentives: about $1,159 per kWh installed. One day of storage for an average US home takes about $34,000 of batteries by our math, before any solar panels, and in NREL's model a Boston solar panel makes only 41% as much in December as in July.
