Companies with the largest reported short interest as a percent of shares outstanding — at least 20% — from FINRA's bi-monthly short-interest file, shown with the settlement date it was reported for. Percent of shares outstanding, computed from the reported FINRA short interest and the company's share count — percent of FLOAT would be higher, because float excludes insider and restricted shares and is not disclosed in the FINRA source. Short interest is a delayed, twice-monthly disclosure, not a live figure, and a high reading is not a forecast in either direction: it can reflect a bearish position, a hedge, or merger arbitrage. Companies whose share count we could not establish are left out entirely rather than shown as low.
