What is trading inside the Ichimoku cloud?
A price is always on one side of an average — above it or below it, never in the middle of it. The Ichimoku cloud is not an average but a shaded BAND, so there is a third place a price can be, and this list is the companies that are in it. The band is drawn from a stock’s own trading range: the midpoint between the highest high and the lowest low over 9, 26 and 52 sessions, combined into two edges with everything between them shaded. Sitting between those edges means recent trading has not carried the price clear of the range that produced them, in either direction, which is the plain meaning of "unresolved" here — and it is a reading no moving-average screen in this catalog can express. Two things to hold onto. The band was computed from a window that closed about five weeks ago, because its edges are plotted 26 sessions ahead of their data, so this is a statement about today’s price against a five-week-old range. And unresolved genuinely means unresolved: nothing on this page indicates which edge a company will leave by.
How do I read the Trading inside the Ichimoku cloud screen?
This screen lists companies whose latest close sits between the two edges of the band rather than clear of either, thinnest band first. That ordering is the point: the distance to the edge is what is left to travel before the question resolves, and a thin band is one a price is close to leaving in either direction. Practitioners read this position as genuinely unresolved — neither an uptrend nor a downtrend has been established by this measure, and the band is where that gets settled. It is the one reading in this family that no moving-average screen can express, because a price is always on one side of an average and can be in the middle of a band. Three limits. Unresolved means unresolved: this list says nothing about which way a company will leave the band, and a thin band resolves sooner without resolving upward. The band is five weeks stale by construction. And a company touching an edge exactly is counted here rather than as clear of it, because touching a level is not clearing it. Nothing here is advice.
