What is a winning streak?
A winning streak is a run of consecutive trading sessions that each closed higher than the session before. We count the run backwards from the most recent close and stop at the first session that did not close higher — a lower close ends it, and so does a perfectly level one, because a flat session is not an up day. The count is sessions, not calendar days, so a weekend or a market holiday does not break a run.
How do I read the On a winning streak (5+ higher closes in a row) screen?
This screen lists companies whose most recent close capped a run of at least five consecutive higher closes, longest run first, with the percentage move across the whole run beside it. Those two numbers say different things: a six-session run can be worth 3% or 50%, so the count measures how persistent the move was and the percentage measures how big. A streak is a description of sessions that have already closed. There is no rule that says a run of a given length continues or reverses, and nothing here is advice.
