What Happens to Bitcoin After a Giant Crypto Hack? Six Major Hacks: Day, Week, Month, Year

We checked bitcoin's price after six major crypto hacks, from Mt. Gox in 2014 to Bitget in 2026. On the day of the news it mostly moved less than 3%: about -2% after Bybit's record $1.5 billion theft, but more than -10% after Bitfinex, where bitcoin itself was stolen. A month later bitcoin was lower after all six, by up to about 22%. A year later it was higher only once in five, after Bitfinex in 2016, and bitcoin had already risen about 40% that year before the hack. So no: the hacks did not start bull runs.
